Produced to commemorate the 19th Gemboree, held in Broken Hill from 1 to 4 April 1983, this vintage tea towel marks the city's Silver City Centenary (1883 to 1983). Featuring bold black graphics on a vibrant yellow linen-look background, it's a wonderful piece of Australian mining and lapidary history.
Commemorative tea towels like this were often purchased as souvenirs at special events and proudly displayed in kitchens or carefully tucked away as keepsakes. Today they're sought after by collectors of Australian memorabilia and make unique pieces for display.
